The Positives

Recent Posts Slider is one of the quickest and easiest slider plugins available. You can choose how many posts to show, specify categories and more. Options are limited as far as appearance, but the few options you do have are enough to make this slider work with just about any website.

The Drawbacks

There are only a few drawbacks to recent posts slider. One is the lack of customization options. The plugin is more of a basic slider, with basic options (although you can apply your own custom css) You are also only able to create one slider. You are welcome to place the shortcode wherever you like, but it’s one shot one kill.

The Conclusion

If you are looking for the fanciest jaw dropping slider on earth, then this one is not for you. However, if you want an easy to use slider that looks good and has reliable functionality, you should definitely give rps a look.

#2 Easing Slider (Free)

Easing Slider, created by  Matthew Ruddy, is one of my personal favorites. An example of this slider can be found on our homepage. It is simple to install and set up. Uploading images is a breeze, and attaching links to those images is just as easy. You can control the height, width, slide effects, borders and even shadow effects. (arch shadow looks awesome) I use this slider on many of my clients websites.

The Positives

Easy to use and install slider, with a great look and transition effects. You can also place it anywhere using a shortcode.

The Drawbacks

This is another slider that offers only one slider. If easing slider would offer the option of adding multiple sliders, I may never use another. The only other drawback would be the “white space”. Sometimes after creating a slider, there will be a small gap between bottom of image and shadow. I have found that by sizing my images to meet my slider specifications, this is not a problem. The slider will stretch images to fit, if they are smaller than your chosen size, possibly using image quality. It’s best to resize images before adding to easing slider.

The Conclusion

Easing slider is one of the Best WordPress sliders in my opinion. Although it would be nice to have the ability to create more than one slider, this is by far one of the easiest, most attractive and not to mention Free plugins available.

#1 KenBurner Slider WordPress Plugin

The Kenburner Slider for WordPress is a premium jquery slider plugin with big potential. This slider works in layers, allowing you to add as many text or image layers as needed and add movement to each one. The end result is a very professional and modern look for your website. The interface is very user friendly and the plugin as a whole is easy to set up and create with.

The Positives

Modern, unique look that allows you to use various images and text. Very easy to use once installed and you can create as many sliders as you like, each having their own shortcode.

The Drawbacks

There is really only one drawback to this image slider, but in my opinion it is a big one. You cannot link the images or slides to pages or posts on your website! Actually, to be fair, if you use a standard html link code when typing in your text, it will become clickable, but the text tends to lose it’s style, font changes color etc. when I have tried.

The Conclusion

Awesome slider as far as style and creativity is concerned. If you are looking for a modern and unique approach to your image slider, kenburns slider is something you may love. However, if it is important that each slide liks to something, you should probably wait until the next version is released by Themepunch who says this option will be available.
